Gelukkig Lantaarnfestival 2022

The Lantern Festival (元宵节) is the last day of the Chinese New Year celebration. This day is for the last moment for setting off fireworks, the last excuse for eating a big feast and the last chance for family getting together before the "年" celebrations are over. (Latern Fest ival is also a traditional time of celebration for foreigners who live in China).

Het Lantaarnfestival, de 15e van de eerste maand van de maankalender, is de eerste volle maan van het jaar. Vieringen en tradities op deze dag gaan terug tot de Westelijke Han Dyna-stal. 

Tradities voor dit festival: zoals de naam al aangeeft, is het ophangen en kijken naar lantaarns de belangrijkste traditie. Lantaarns in verschillende soorten en maten worden weergegeven op bomen of langs rivieroevers.

Ouders nemen hun kinderen vaak mee naar Lantaarnbeurzen en soms krijgen gelukkige kinderen zelfs een mini-speelgoedlantaarn.

Another tradition is guessing lantern riddles. These are riddles that are hung on lanter ns for people to shoot down and solve. The riddles are usually short, wise, and sometimes humorous. The answer to a riddle can be a Chinese character, a famous person's name, a pl ace name or a proverb. This tradition has become a popular game with serious staying pow er even as social development changes other traditions.

Anders dan dat, is het belangrijkste dat je vandaag moet doen, zoete dumplings eten. In northern China, sweet dumplings made of glutinous rice flour are called "元宵" while in sou thern part they are called "汤圆" . Typische zoete dumplings zijn gevuld met zwarte sesamsaus, gezoete bonenpasta of meidoorn. Making "元宵" today is like a game or an activity, so it's seldom done without a reason and a group of friends or family present to help out.
